About The Lodge

The Lodge on St. Croix is a low cost, 40-bed residential, supportive-educational, Twelve-Step model program for people seeking recovery from alcoholism or drug dependency and mental illness.  The program is designed for those who need time out in a safe and supportive environment to establish a sober foundation, and who are not in need of a more clinically oriented residential treatment program.  The recovery principles and spiritual philosophy found in Twelve Step programing will serve as the foundation.  The Lodge on St. Croix will be the bridge linking people in early recovery to the broader recovering community.  The program will achieve this growing experience of “community” through employment of experienced staff and extensive use of volunteers from the recovering community to serve as speakers, group leaders, role models and sponsors.

The Problem

The numbers are staggering. The addiction epidemic is at an all time high. Here are the realities of the situation:

  • 24 million Americans are addicted to alcohol or abuse it regularly

  • More than 15 million abuse prescription opioids, depressants, and stimulants each year.

  • 15 million regularly smoke marijuana.

  • 2.4 million Americans use cocaine; and more than 600,000 use crack.

  • More than 500,000 are regular users of methamphetamine.

  • One million use Ecstasy and hallucinogens.

  • 4.5 million teens have used controlled prescription drugs like OxyContin, Vicodin, Ritalin and Adderall to get high.

  • Every five-years we loose 1.2 million Americans to the ravages of addiction, that’s 240,000 deaths per year.

The Solution

Teaching the essentials of recovery as embodied in the Twelve Steps and providing a strong focus on the basic principles of recovery are hallmarks of The Lodge philosophy. The Lodge creates an environment that promotes emotional and spiritual growth and helps establish a solid connection to the recovery community. Guests will share their experience, strength and hope with one another, learning to trust and to understand the true nature of their illness and to take the steps necessary to recover.
